Chapter 336: The Spoiled and Willful Miss
Seeing Vera Xavier smile, Skylar Crowe grew even angrier. "You bumped into me and didn’t even apologize! You’re just standing there smiling!"
Vera Xavier had a decent understanding of Skylar Crowe’s personality. She was a spoiled rich girl—arrogant, domineering, and unreasonable. Vera said coolly, "I was standing here, walking forward slowly. You rushed over, bumped into me, and fell down on your own. Now you’re demanding an apology? I don’t think that’s how things work in this world."
Skylar Crowe was used to being domineering in Veridia. On top of that, she was close with Susan Caldwell, so whether it was classmates or neighborhood friends, everyone always gave way to her. No one had ever spoken to her like this before.
Skylar Crowe was never one to be trifled with. She had a notoriously bad temper, and hearing Vera’s words, she immediately felt she was being bullied. She rushed forward to slap Vera Xavier.
Vera Xavier was already prepared. As Skylar’s hand came flying, Vera grabbed it, twisted it back, and pinned Skylar’s arm behind her back. The pain made Skylar Crowe scream, "Let me go!"
Vera Xavier sneered. "Let you go so you can hit me? It’s obvious you’re a spoiled little girl. Since your family hasn’t taught you how to behave, I guess I’ll have to teach you a lesson today."
After speaking, she twisted Skylar’s arm again, this time with more force. Skylar’s scream grew louder. Vera then lifted her foot and kicked Skylar’s rear, sending her flying and making her fall flat on her face.
Skylar Crowe had never been beaten like this. She instantly realized she had run into a formidable opponent, but admitting defeat and walking away would be far too humiliating.
So she turned, picked up a nearby stool meant for resting, and hurled it directly at Vera Xavier.
Vera Xavier’s eyes narrowed. She sidestepped to dodge, then landed a heavy karate chop on Skylar Crowe’s arm. The stool in her hand fell to the ground, smashing onto her own foot and making her shriek in pain.
Because Vera Xavier had suffered a setback in that dark alley last time, she had been diligently training her physical fitness and martial arts. Her skills were now far superior to what they were back then. Even if she had to face a group of thugs alone again, she wouldn’t be at a disadvantage.
Skylar Crowe got into fights sometimes too. Her old man had even sent her to a place with strict discipline to train her up for being so mischievous. She usually thought of herself as pretty tough at school, but now, faced with Vera Xavier, her fighting skills were utterly pathetic.
Vera Xavier felt that fighting a minor follower like this was beneath her, so she said coldly, "Get lost!"
The aura around her was frighteningly cold, and Skylar Crowe couldn’t help but shiver.
As Vera Xavier finished speaking and turned to leave, a vicious look entered Skylar Crowe’s eyes. ’She never thought she would run into such a formidable person in this backwater place!’
’But in Skylar Crowe’s mind, she was a chosen daughter of heaven from Veridia. Everyone had to yield to her. How dare this country bumpkin, who had come out of nowhere, actually hit her!’
She spotted a bamboo pole with a sharpened tip that someone had left by the hotel entrance. She grabbed it, let out a roar, and lunged at Vera Xavier.
Vera Xavier hadn’t expected her to attack again. She was a little too slow to dodge, and the bamboo pole scraped past her back, tearing a large hole in her jacket. The force of the strike pushed her back several steps, forcing her to the edge of the staircase.
