Chapter 273: Falcoln’s True Purpose (1)
Chapter 273: Falcoln’s True Purpose (1)
The moment Roxanna said those words, Falcoln finally dropped his fake smile and showed his true face.
He slowly lifted the stone axe in his hand and pointed it directly at Roxanna.
"I guess you really want to di—"
Crash!
Before he could finish speaking, an axe suddenly flew from behind and slammed hard into his back and Falcoln’s body lurched forward from the impact.
"Who do you think you are to try to kill my wife?"
Luan’s voice echoed through the battlefield, and a moment later, he stepped out from behind one of the huts.
Falcoln widened his eyes in shock because he truly hadn’t sensed anyone’s presence behind him. Not only that, he had been completely sure that Luan and Zeir were still fighting against the Sky Tribe warriors back at the Sky Tribe settlement.
"And do you really think I wouldn’t realize you were trying to trick us?" Luan narrowed his eyes coldly.
He then threw an animal-skin bag onto the ground beside Falcoln. When the bag rolled open, some of its contents spilled out.
Roxanna’s eyes widened slightly when she saw a bunch of eagle heads inside the bag.
"Did you really think I couldn’t tell the difference between normal eagles and eagle beastmen?" Luan asked mockingly. "Coward."
Several eagle beastmen quickly descended from the sky and landed around Falcoln protectively.
The moment the eagle beastmen landed, the atmosphere instantly became tense.
One of the eagle beastmen immediately charged toward Luan with a furious screech.
"Die!"
Woosh!
A poisoned arrow suddenly shot through the air and pierced straight into the eagle warrior’s arm and he only laughed at first.
He casually pulled the arrow out of his arm as if it meant nothing, then he turned toward Cyrus, who had just fired it.
"As usual, your aim is always terrible!"
Roxanna immediately frowned after hearing that.
That made no sense at all because Cyrus was someone who could hit a target easily without even trying that hard.
But after thinking about it more carefully, Roxanna slowly realized the truth.
Back when Cyrus was still their slave, he had probably missed his shots on purpose because if he showed how skilled he truly was, the Sky Tribe might have seen him as a threat instead.
Meanwhile, Cyrus said nothing after hearing the mockery.
His expression remained calm, but his sharp eyes stayed fixed on the eagle warrior.
A few seconds later, the warrior’s laughter suddenly stopped. "Huh?"
His body swayed slightly and the arrow slipped from his fingers and fell onto the ground.
"What’s wrong with him?!" another eagle beastman shouted.
The warrior opened his mouth as if he wanted to speak, but no words came out.
Then suddenly, his large body collapsed heavily onto the dirt.
His whole body convulsed, and his skin looked as if it was blistering from the inside.
"Hot! My body feels like it’s burning!" he shouted loudly before crawling desperately in search of water.
However, after a few seconds, his entire body became so stiff that he could no longer move at all.
The battlefield fell silent for a moment.
The eagle beastmen stared at their fallen companion with shock written all over their faces.
Smoke slowly rose from the warrior’s skin while his body remained frozen on the ground.
Roxanna herself looked stunned.
She knew the poison was dangerous, but she hadn’t expected the effects to be this terrifying on someone.
[The bird that Cyrus shot earlier didn’t even show a reaction like this.]
Roxanna shrugged. [Well, who cares? It feels good to see him end up so badly.]
Wait, was that really a good thought? It still felt a little strange to feel happy while watching someone die.
But since those eagles had made Cyrus suffer for so long, maybe it was fine.
[Ding! Ding!]
[Side Mission Activated: Protect Your Husband’s Pride!]
[Goal: The Sky Tribe has mocked Cyrus for far too long. Show them clearly that your husband is no weak little bird!]
[Mission Reward:
- 15 Spirit Points (SP)
- Advanced Poison Resistance Potion Recipe]
Wasn’t this mission a little too late? She had already been doing that from the very beginning.
[Host, you still need to drive the Sky Tribe back first and show them that Cyrus is not someone they can look down on!]
Roxanna only gave a small nod in response.
Meanwhile, the giant eagles above them continued circling through the dark sky, their sharp screeches echoing across the battlefield.
The warriors of the Vixeria Tribe tightened their grips on their weapons. At this point, all of them could tell that the Sky Tribe was not an enemy they could underestimate at all.
"How interesting," Falcoln suddenly said.
He slowly pulled the axe out from his back as if the wound meant nothing. Right in front of everyone’s eyes, the injury rapidly healed.
"I didn’t know you had become this strong, Red."
Instead of praise, Roxanna could clearly tell that Falcoln was actually mocking Cyrus.
Woosh! Woosh!
Cyrus fired two arrows toward Falcoln in quick succession, but strangely, he didn’t avoid them at all. He let the arrows pierce through his chest and allowed the poison to seep into his system.
"What the hell..." Roxanna whispered under her breath, completely confused by what she was seeing.
Falcoln’s body had clearly convulsed for a brief moment after the poison entered his system, but his expression remained calm and emotionless, as if the poison was nothing more than plain water to him.
"Enough playing around," Falcoln said coldly.
There wasn’t even a hint of humor left on his face anymore. His sharp eyes locked onto Cyrus like a predator staring at its prey.
"It’s time for me to drink your blood again," he added coldly.
That single word, "again," finally made Cyrus realize that Falcoln had taken his blood several times before, perhaps more than two or three times.
But why?
Seeing Falcoln stand there completely unaffected by the poison made Cyrus finally realize something was terribly wrong.
"You..." Cyrus narrowed his eyes. "What did you do with my blood?"
