Chapter 310: Cookies for Family
Chapter 310: Cookies for Family
Perhaps because he had sweated so much while sleeping, Yue eagerly gulped it down.
Seeing that relieved Qiong Xing immensely, and Rui also looked delighted that Yue was drinking what he had helped make.
"It is yummy!"
"I am glad to hear that. That is wonderful, is it not, Rui?"
"Yeah!"
At this rate, Yue would probably recover by tomorrow.
Qiong Xing had panicked badly when Yue first collapsed, but now he felt relieved enough to think of it as a valuable learning experience.
"Is Yue all better now?"
"Not yet. So today let us stay in the room together and read picture books with Mama."
There was no way she could recover that quickly.
So when Qiong Xing suggested they spend the day quietly indoors together, both children immediately began requesting which picture books they wanted him to read.
...
It had been a long time since Qiong Xing last saw Sergei, but he looked somewhat exhausted.
Perhaps because he was worried about him, Ranga was lying close beside Sergei as though staying by his side protectively.
"It has been a while. I am sorry I could not come visit for so long."
"You are carrying a child, are you not? Then it cannot be helped. I thought I told them to make sure you rested and did not overexert yourself."
Apparently Sergei had already heard about it from Katarina and the others, and they had all told Qiong Xing not to push himself too hard.
Still, Qiong Xing had declined their concerns and come today anyway.
"I thought it might be a good change of pace. Besides, this child said he wanted to play with Ranga too, so I thought it would be a good opportunity."
The moment Lian called Ranga’s name and hugged him, Ranga happily licked her face in response.
Since Qiong Xing had something he wanted to discuss with the tired looking Sergei, he suggested they take a short break, and Sergei immediately stopped working without complaint.
"You two come over here as well. Lian, you had something you wanted to give he too, did you not?"
"Yeah! Lian made this. Here!"
"You made it yourself? Then I will gratefully accept it."
Before coming here, Lian and Qiong Xing had already delivered the cookies they baked together to Katarina, Naz, and the others as well.
Everyone had reacted with overwhelming excitement, praising her and thanking hrr enthusiastically, which had clearly made Lian very happy.
Qiong Xing honestly had not known whether Sergei would accept them or not.
If he refused, Qiong Xing had figured he could always give them to Mr. Paulo instead, so Sergei accepting them so naturally surprised him a little.
"She said she wanted to give them to you to thank you for playing with her before. Um... I made them together with her, so there is nothing strange inside them. But if it is difficult for you, then you do not have to force yourself to eat them..."
"It is alright. I do not believe your child would ever do such a thing. And if you made them together with her, then I have no concerns about the taste either. I will happily accept them."
Qiong Xing had been about to tell him not to worry and simply throw them away if they were difficult to eat, but unexpectedly Sergei accepted them gladly, thanked him, and gently patted Lian’s head.
"I am glad then. I made some for Ranga too, so please give them to him later as a snack."
Qiong Xing was not entirely sure what wolves could eat, but he had tried making something firm with very little sweetness.
Whether Ranga would like them or not remained to be seen, but he handed them over anyway.
"Still, I do not remember ever playing with her..."
"You ate meals together and even carried her before, did you not? To this child, that already counts as playing together."
Sergei did not react dramatically the way Katarina and the others did, but Lian probably understood in her own way that Sergei cared about her.
Even while making the cookies together earlier, Lian had said: "You are bringing that many?"
At first Qiong Xing had assumed they were only making enough for two people, so he had been surprised when Lian started preparing a third batch.
"These are for Grandma. These are for Grandpa. And these are for the big uncle."
Qiong Xing had wondered who "big uncle" referred to until Lian explained it was the person who carried her, making Sergei immediately come to mind.
The phrase "big uncle" had honestly made Qiong Xing laugh.
"I thought it might be difficult if I did not teach her your name somehow, so I told her to just call you Uncle Sergei instead. Was that alright?"
At this age, teaching her to say "Prime Minister Sergei" would have been both meaningless and difficult to pronounce, so Qiong Xing had chosen the much simpler "Uncle Sergei."
"I do not mind."
Qiong Xing had worried Sergei might get upset, but instead he nodded without issue.
After that, they had gone together to deliver cookies to the captains as well, but...
"Grandpa said we do not have to give any to them."
"Why not!?"
Rohen accepted the cookies with a bright smile, and Narka was already waiting expectantly, assuming he would be next.
But Lian shook her head firmly and refused to give him any.
Wondering what had happened, Qiong Xing asked for the reason, only to learn that Sarin had apparently told Lian that precious homemade cookies should never be given to an idiot like Narka.
Sarin clearly had not forgotten the time Narka had made Lian cry before.
"How unfortunate. I suppose this is the result of your everyday behavior."
"You spend all your time training your body instead of your brain. That is the problem."
Sergei and Rohen seized the opportunity to mock him mercilessly while laughing.
Qiong Xing felt genuinely apologetic about it.
"But if you do not give them away, then one package will be left over, right? You worked hard to make them, so should you not give them to him after all?"
