Chapter 262 - 259: Not a Single Man Is a Good Thing

"Yes, that’s right! Clara Grant! It was her!" Yvette Zimmerman said, nodding in confirmation.

"How is that possible?" Evan Shelby shook his head with a smile, not believing his wife. After all, she was prone to making a fuss over nothing.

"What do you mean, not possible?" Seeing his disbelief, Yvette Zimmerman’s voice rose. "I saw it with my own two eyes!"

"Saw what?"

"What did I see? I saw Clara Grant leaving Seth Quinn’s apartment at The Millennium Grand first thing in the morning. That proves it! That Clara Grant must have spent the night with him."

"Really?" Evan Shelby frowned, still finding it hard to believe. "Are you sure you weren’t mistaken? Sure, Clara Grant is pretty, but she’s just a daughter the Grant Family cast out. Why would Seth Quinn get involved with a woman of her status?"

"I absolutely wasn’t mistaken! Cherie Rhodes was with me, and she saw it too. Go ask her if you don’t believe me!" ’Although Cherie Rhodes said she didn’t get a clear look, I don’t buy it. She’s obviously trying to protect her own daughter’s best friend!’

This time, Evan Shelby believed her, and his expression darkened.

Evan Shelby sighed silently. ’Later, Seth Quinn had simply called off the engagement. Even if we’d disagreed, what could we have possibly done?’

A man like Seth Quinn was uncompromising; his word was final, no matter who he was dealing with.

Yvette Zimmerman’s brow was also knitted in a tight frown. At a loss, she said, "I was hoping that when Autumn came back, she and Seth Quinn could rekindle their old flame. What are we supposed to do now? Has Seth Quinn really moved on from her? If Autumn finds out, it’ll break her heart!"

"So what if her heart is broken! Who told her to be so willful back then, throwing tantrums like a spoiled princess!" Evan Shelby suddenly snapped at Yvette Zimmerman.

Stunned by his anger, Yvette Zimmerman’s eyes immediately reddened. "How can you blame only Autumn for what happened? If Seth Quinn hadn’t always been so cold to her, always making her feel like he didn’t care, making her feel so insecure, would she ever have done such a thing?

"What does a woman want? Isn’t it just to be constantly treasured and doted on like a priceless gem? It’s one thing for you men to be unable to give a woman what she wants, but then you blame her for being willful and demanding too much?! You men are all the same! Not a good one in the bunch!"

Seeing her fly into a rage, Evan’s mind drifted. ’I’ve not only kept a mistress for over twenty years, but I’ve now moved her into the Shelby family home. And that was only possible because Yvette finally relented.’

The thought of how much he owed her made his own anger dissipate. He walked over, put an arm around her shoulder, and comforted her, "Alright, alright. It was my fault for losing my temper. I’m just... I’m just so worried, that’s all."
