Chapter 1025: The Bleeding Moon Awakens!
Chapter 1025: The Bleeding Moon Awakens!
The moment Patriarch Hong Tianyue’s roar echoed across the battlefield, the skies themselves seemed to tremble.
Every cultivator fighting within the Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood Sect felt an instinctive chill spread through their bodies. Even the raging explosions, collapsing peaks and screams of battle seemed to lessen for a brief instant as everyone turned toward the Heart Peak.
Then they felt it.
Three terrifying auras awakened simultaneously.
BOOOOOOM!
The sky darkened.
Massive waves of Blood Qi erupted from beneath the Heart Peak as if ancient monsters were clawing their way out from the underworld itself. Mountains cracked apart while the clouds above twisted violently into spirals of crimson.
The remaining allied cultivators all paled instantly.
Several weaker Nascent Soul cultivators directly coughed out blood from the pressure alone. A few Core Condensation realm fighters exploded outright, their bodies unable to endure the terrifying aura descending upon the battlefield.
Han Yu himself felt his scalp go numb.
His entire body instinctively screamed danger.
Even with his Soul Cultivation protecting him, the pressure from those three ancient monsters made him feel suffocated. The soul within his body trembled violently as he looked toward the Heart Peak.
Then they appeared.
Three figures slowly rose into the skies.
Two old men.
One hunched old woman holding a black cane.
Their bodies looked frail beyond belief. Their skin resembled dry bark stretched over bones while their hair had almost fully fallen away. Their eyes appeared cloudy and ancient, carrying the exhaustion of countless years.
Yet despite their appearances...
The power radiating from them eclipsed almost everyone present. The battlefield that had seemed evenly matched moments ago instantly tilted once more. Han Yu’s expression turned pale.
This just became ten times more difficult.
Just taking one arm from Patriarch Hong Tianyue had required ten Dao Treading realm cultivators attacking together while empowered by the Geomancy Array. One of those experts had already died while several others were badly injured.
And now the Ancestors themselves had entered the battlefield!
Han Yu looked toward them with his soul senses and immediately noticed something strange.
Their souls were weak.
Very weak.
They resembled candles flickering within a violent storm, barely remaining lit. Their vitality had already reached its limits. Han Yu instantly understood that the ritual to contact the immortal realm truly had drained them nearly dry.
Yet despite standing at death’s door... The three Ancestors erupted with terrifying power.
They had clearly decided something already.
If they were going to die anyway... They would drag all enemies down with them!
"Even if we expend every drop of our longevity..." Sanguine Ancestor roared.
"We shall kill every last one of you!" Death Bell Ancestor followed.
Their voices shook the heavens.
Then the three unleashed their techniques simultaneously.
Arts unseen for thousands of years finally reappeared beneath the Bleeding Moon.
The skies exploded with crimson light.
Massive blood colored domains spread outward across the battlefield while terrifying laws descended from above. Blood clouds gathered into giant skeletal hands that crushed entire groups of cultivators.
One allied Dao Shell realm expert exploded into mist instantly after being struck by Perishing Lute Ancestor’s sound waves.
A gigantic blood river manifested beneath Sanguine Ancestor and devoured dozens of Nascent Soul cultivators whole.
Death Bell Ancestor struck the air with a massive bronze bell that appeared behind him.
DOOOOOONG!
The sound alone ruptured organs.
Nearly a hundred experts of various cultivation levels died instantly.
The battlefield descended into utter carnage.
Han Yu himself almost died moments later.
A giant blood claw descended from above while he was battling two elders simultaneously. The attack covered nearly half a mountain range and moved so quickly he barely had time to react.
His pupils shrank.
He knew he could not dodge it fully.
Then suddenly icy winds exploded beside him.
Madam Cold Fang appeared instantly and grabbed him before forcefully throwing him away from the attack’s center.
BOOOOOM!
The blood claw slammed into the ground as entire sections of the battlefield vanished. Han Yu crashed violently through several ruined buildings before stopping himself. He quickly looked toward Madam Cold Fang.
The woman had avoided death.
But her shoulder was now covered by a sickly green patch spreading slowly through her pale skin. The flesh there appeared rotten while strange blood colored veins pulsed beneath it. Clearly one of the Ancestor’s attacks had infected her.
Madam Cold Fang frowned slightly but ignored the injury entirely.
"Continue attacking!" Han Yu shouted immediately after recovering. "They cannot maintain this for long!"
He forced himself to remain calm.
The Ancestors were burning through their remaining lives rapidly and Han Yu could sense it clearly. Every large technique they unleashed caused their already weak souls to dim further.
Perhaps only minutes remained.
Han Yu clenched his fists tightly.
"Just a few minutes..." he muttered to himself. "We only need to survive a few minutes..."
Yet those few minutes became hell itself. Every second now felt like hours as experts died continuously. Entire allied squads disappeared beneath the Ancestors’ techniques. And within barely two minutes, nearly forty percent of Han Yu’s gathered forces had perished.
The Geomancy Array continued supplying power endlessly but even endless Qi meant little when facing opponents capable of killing hundreds with a single technique. Despair began spreading among the allied cultivators.
Then suddenly... Perishing Lute Ancestor coughed blood violently.
"ACKH! ACKH!"
Her sound technique shattered apart midway through execution as the old woman’s eyes dimmed instantly.
Her body trembled before falling from the skies.
"LUTE!"
The other two Ancestors roared simultaneously and they rushed toward her immediately. But by the time they reached her... The old woman was already dead.
Her body had become completely lifeless. She had burned away every final fragment of her remaining lifespan. The battlefield fell silent briefly before rage erupted from the remaining two Ancestors.
"DAMN YOU ALL!"
"WE SHALL NOT LET ANY OF YOU SURVIVE!"
The two Ancestors suddenly began forming hand seals together.
Their expressions turned savage.
SMACK! SMACK!
Then both men slapped their foreheads violently before spitting out mouthfuls of blood. The blood floated before them and transformed into strange crimson runes resembling the Bleeding Moon above.
The surrounding Blood Qi began trembling violently.
Then the two Ancestors started chanting.
"Conquering The Moon..."
"Conquering The Heavens..."
"Bleeding The Moon..."
"Bleeding The Heavens..."
The runes grew brighter.
The skies darkened further.
Han Yu suddenly felt overwhelming danger erupt within his heart.
"All shall submit..."
"Under the gaze..."
"Of the wound of the moon..."
The entire sect shook violently.
Then the two Ancestors roared together.
"SLAUGHTERED MOON AWAKEN!"
BOOOOOOOOOOM!
Something answered.
The Bleeding Moon above the sect suddenly pulsed violently. An enormous crimson aura descended upon the entire battlefield while Blood Qi from every corner of the sect surged upward uncontrollably.
A strange sound echoed through heaven and earth.
WOOOOOOONG!
It sounded ancient.
Alien.
Wrong.
Everyone instinctively looked upward and what they saw... Sent chills through every living being present.
The Bleeding Moon... Was cracking apart.
CRACK!
CRACK CRACK CRACK!
Massive cracks spread across the enormous red moon hanging above the sect. One especially gigantic crack stretched across almost its entire circumference like a horrific wound splitting open.
Immense quantities of Blood Qi gathered around it continuously.
Clouds twisted violently.
The moon trembled.
Then finally the massive crack widened as a gigantic blood red eye slowly opened from within the wound.
The eye stared downward silently.
Cold.
Ancient.
Malevolent.
At the same time, the surrounding Blood Qi condensed into gigantic tentacles extending outward from the moon itself.
The sky seemed alive now.
Alive...
And watching...
The Bleeding Moon had awakened.
