Chapter 449 - 451: Lorraine Warren Goes to Jail
Chapter 449 - 451: Lorraine Warren Goes to Jail
Lorraine Warren’s face was a mask of anguish and terror. Her hands trembled as she pulled out her phone and tried to dial a number. "911... call 911..."
"Don’t call!" Jeanette Kensington snatched the phone from her hand, shaking her head frantically. "Don’t call..."
Lorraine Warren shouted anxiously, "What are you doing, Jeanette?! He’s your father!!"
"What’s the point? He’s already dead!" Jeanette pointed at Lee Warren. "Look, he’s not breathing! He’s dead, and he can’t be saved!!"
With that, she collapsed into Lorraine Warren’s arms. "Mom, I killed someone. I actually killed someone. I didn’t mean to."
Lorraine Warren reached out and wiped the tears from her daughter’s eyes.
Lee Warren was dead, and her heart was wracked with pain. But she only had this one daughter; she couldn’t just send her to prison.
Lorraine Warren calmed herself slightly and gave Jeanette a little push. "Don’t be afraid. No one else knows about this." She got up and found a large burlap sack. "Quick, help me put him inside."
Watching Lorraine Warren handle the grim task with such practiced ease, Jeanette felt a sudden wave of nausea. She could hardly bring herself to look at her mother.
Just as the two of them were working together to put Lee Warren into the sack, the sound of police sirens grew closer, approaching from a distance.
Lorraine Warren’s body trembled, and she stumbled to the ground. "Someone called the police..."
Jeanette said through her tears, "It was me. I called them. The door wouldn’t open no matter what I did, so I called the police. I didn’t think they’d get here so fast..."
Footsteps echoed from the stairwell. Jeanette hugged Lorraine Warren’s waist, crying, "Mom, I don’t want to go to jail! I’m still so young, how can I go to jail for Lee Warren?! This is all your fault! Why did you steal my money and run off with him to this place? You knew he was abusive, so why didn’t you come back to me? If you hadn’t gotten tangled up with him, I never would have killed someone by accident... I... SOB... I don’t want to go to jail!! Mom, save me! Please, save me! Please save me, okay?"
A knock came from the door.
"Hello, we’re the police. We just received a distress call reporting a serious violent incident at this location. Please open the door for an investigation."
After two seconds with no response from inside, the officers exchanged a look and decided to break down the door.
"Pardon the intrusion."
The moment the door opened, the officers’ expressions grew grim.
Lorraine Warren held out her hands, forcing out each word with difficulty. "I confess. I’m the one who killed him. Take me away. Don’t involve innocent people."
Jeanette tried to move her lips, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t form a single word. She covered her face and wept.
*
"Dad, I’m begging you! Please, I’m begging you, save Mom!!"
Jackson Kensington opened his eyes from his hospital bed and stared at Jeanette Kensington in disbelief. "How did you get in here? Who let you in? Get the hell out!!"
He pushed himself up, shouting, "Bodyguards! Bodyguards!!"
The two bodyguards at the door walked in.
"What the hell do I pay you for? Get her out of here, now! Don’t let her be a damn eyesore!!"
Jackson Kensington’s fingers trembled with rage. He was already in a foul mood because of the recent supernatural incidents. After he woke up, everyone told him he had never left his hospital room, let alone gone to any beach. They said it was all in his head, a product of paranoia. This made Jackson even more terrified; only he knew that the feeling of suffocation had been real. ’Perhaps the people around me have already been bought off.’ Jackson had only felt secure after replacing his entire security detail. But it seemed the quality of the hastily hired new bodyguards wasn’t up to par, letting Jeanette in so easily to torment him.
A bodyguard explained, "Mr. Kensington, she said she was your daughter and even showed us a family photo, so we..."
"Don’t make excuses! Drag her out of here! And don’t you ever let her in again. I never want to see her again!!"
The bodyguards acknowledged the order and stepped forward.
Jeanette, of course, refused to leave. She clung tightly to Jackson Kensington’s arm. "I’m not lying to you, Dad! Mom’s in jail because of Lee Warren! You have to save her!"
Hearing this, Jackson Kensington actually laughed. "Serves her right! Weren’t they plotting against me? Well, now they can tear each other apart! It serves Lorraine Warren right to be in prison. She dared to cheat on me! Even if she dropped dead on the street, it would still serve her right!!"
Jeanette spoke in disbelief, "Dad, what are you saying...?"
"Don’t call me Dad! I’m not your dad! Your dad is Lee Warren! That beggar, gambler, ex-convict Lee Warren! After all this, you still expect me to save you two? What a joke! It’s merciful enough that I haven’t sent people to beat you up, and you still have the gall to show your face here! Get the hell out! I don’t want anything to do with Lorraine Warren’s mess. As far as I’m concerned, she got what she deserved!!"
Only then did Jeanette see Jackson Kensington’s true colors.
’So, once you strip away the facade of a ’loving father,’ he’s nothing but a petty man who kicks others when they’re down.’
Catching Jackson Kensington off guard, Jeanette bit down hard on his arm, with enough force that it seemed she wanted to tear a chunk of flesh from him.
Jackson Kensington let out a piercing scream and slapped Jeanette across the face.
While the bodyguards were preoccupied with Jackson Kensington’s injury, Jeanette ran out of the hospital room.
This trip had made one thing clear: Lorraine Warren was beyond saving. No one was willing to help the mother and daughter.
Whether it was Caleb Bishop or Jackson Kensington, the people who had once doted on her the most had all changed completely.
Jeanette clutched her chest and half-squatted on the hospital’s cold tile floor. Suddenly, her head lolled to the side, and she collapsed.
Before she fainted, her mind was filled with the look in Lorraine Warren’s eyes—full of love, and of reluctance to part...
Her last remaining family member was, in the end, going to be taken from her...

"Jeanette Kensington’s mother, Lorraine Warren, has been arrested. She’s probably facing a harsh sentence."
Naomi Kenway was clearly very interested in this piece of gossip from her assistant, Summers. "How did she get arrested?"
"You don’t know? The gossip is spreading like wildfire over here." Summers leaned closer to Naomi Kenway and organized his thoughts. "I heard it was for murder. Her husband was abusing her, and during the struggle, she accidentally killed him!"
Naomi Kenway lowered her gaze.
’Jackson Kensington is alive and well, I’m sure of that. So the one Lorraine Warren killed was, in all likelihood, her new lover.’
"What a shame," Naomi Kenway said.
"What’s a shame about it?"
"It would have been better if Jackson Kensington was the one who died. It would have saved me a lot of trouble."
Summers then remembered something. "Lorraine Warren is Jeanette Kensington’s mother, Jeanette is Jackson Kensington’s illegitimate daughter, and Jackson Kensington is your..." He had a sudden realization. "I completely forgot about that crucial connection! In that case, it really is a shame. It would be great if that whole pile of trash just disappeared together. Vanishing from the face of the earth early would be a service to the world!"
With a notification chime, Naomi Kenway quickly tapped open a message window.
