Chapter 448 - 450: All the Truth
Chapter 448 - 450: All the Truth
Jackson Kensington felt water clogging his nose and mouth. He couldn’t breathe at all, on the verge of suffocation.
Jackson Kensington’s life had hardly been smooth sailing; he had faced his share of difficulties and setbacks. But compared to his current agony, they were all child’s play.
’Is this how painful drowning is?’
’Did Rose Kenway suffer like this back then?’
’No, she was already dead before she was thrown into the sea. She died instantly after tumbling down the stairs.’
Jackson hadn’t originally intended for her to die. It was only at Lorraine Warren’s urging that he couldn’t stop himself from reaching out and pushing.
The moment he saw Rose Kenway’s forehead covered in blood, he was first struck by fear, but then he slowly began to relax.
Rose Kenway was dead. This meant the entire Kenway Family fortune was his. There was no one left to boss him around. He was free!!
Water flooded his lungs. Jackson Kensington’s face turned blue from the lack of air. Just when he thought he was about to die, he was pulled up. He coughed violently, spitting out salty seawater, his entire face flushing crimson.
He lifted his head and saw "Rose Kenway" still standing before him, and he was so scared he nearly fainted.
Jackson Kensington thought the punishment was over. Who would have known that just as he caught his breath, he was thrown back into the sea to experience the sensation of suffocation once more.
This was repeated several times. Jackson Kensington felt like a mouse being toyed with. He wanted to curse them out but was helpless. By the last time, his knees were so weak he wished he could just die. The torture was excruciating, each round pushing him to his physical limits.
Jackson Kensington’s body trembled, his lips pale and blue. The next second, he passed out.
"Rose Kenway" tucked her loose hair behind her shoulder, gave the two bodyguards a look, and then made a phone call.
"It’s handled, Boss Kenway. Things went even smoother than we expected. He’s a real coward, looked like he was about to piss his pants. Should I take him back to his hospital room now? We can’t play around anymore. One more time and he’ll really die out here."
*
"We can’t let him die now. That would be letting him off too easy. Take him back to his room for now." After giving the order, Naomi Kenway hung up.
She put her phone away, her gaze heavy as she stared at the scenery outside the window.
She had already uncovered the whole truth. Jackson Kensington and Lorraine Warren—she wouldn’t let either of them get away with it!
She would make them both pay!

After being discharged from the hospital, Jeanette Kensington returned home. Even though Lorraine Warren had stolen so much money from her, she still couldn’t let go of her mother.
’What kind of good life could she have with Lee Warren? He’ll never change his ways. No matter how much money they have, he’ll just gamble it all away!’
Jeanette thought to herself, ’Lorraine must have learned her lesson this time. I’ll find her and bring her back. As long as she can live a safe and quiet life, that’s all that matters. No matter what, she’s my mother—the person who worked so hard to raise me. How could I possibly abandon her?’
’And Dad... I know Jackson was just furious, but they’ve been together for so many years. Once his anger subsides, everything will be fine. We’ll be a loving family again, and no one will be able to tear us apart.’
A smile finally appeared on Jeanette Kensington’s face.
She followed the address she had looked up and headed toward Lee Warren’s home.
It was an extremely old residential complex. The paint was peeling off the walls, making one wonder if the buildings were even safe. As far as the eye could see, there were very few residents.
She heard there had been a murder here a few years ago. Because the buildings were old and security was poor, very few people chose to live here.
Jeanette Kensington frowned. She had assumed that since Lorraine Warren had stolen so much of her money, she and Lee Warren would have at least moved to a complex in a better neighborhood.
’Perhaps Lee Warren had already gambled away every last cent Lorraine took!’
Jeanette Kensington quickened her pace into the apartment building. She didn’t want to spend a second longer here. She had never lived in such a dilapidated place in her entire life; she couldn’t even imagine how Lorraine Warren was surviving in an environment like this.
The complex had no elevator, so Jeanette Kensington climbed to the fifth floor. She checked the apartment number, and just as she was about to knock, she heard a loud crash from inside, like a table or chair being slammed to the ground, followed by Lorraine Warren’s pained cries for help.
"Stop hitting me! Stop! I really don’t have any money! My daughter doesn’t have any money either! Just let me go! Didn’t you promise me you wouldn’t gamble anymore? How could you lie to me?!"
"So what if I lied?! We’re married now, it’s not that easy to get a divorce! Now, hurry up and give me all the money you have on you! Not a single cent? How is that possible? Are you lying to me? I think you’re asking to die! Fine, I’ll grant your wish today! I’ll beat you to death!!"
Jeanette Kensington pushed frantically at the door, but it was locked from the inside and wouldn’t budge. She screamed in panic, "Mom!!"
A neighbor passing by stopped her. "Hey, don’t play the hero. That couple is nothing but trouble. A few days ago, a young man couldn’t stand it and rushed in. Guess what happened? Lee Warren’s wife blamed the guy for being nosy and ran right back to Lee. Then Lee held a grudge and started harassing the young man at his home every day!"
The older woman spat on the ground and pointed at Lee Warren’s apartment. "A total lowlife thug! You’re a young lady, you shouldn’t rush in there and do something foolish. With those two, one’s willing to give the beating, and the other’s willing to take it. They’re fine, they don’t need us worrying about them! If you get tangled up with psychos like that, you won’t even have time to pack up and move!"
Jeanette Kensington didn’t hear a word the neighbor said. All she heard was a sickening thud from inside the room, followed by silence from Lorraine Warren.
"Something must have happened!!"
Jeanette Kensington called the police while grabbing a fire extinguisher and frantically smashing it against the door.
For once, the older neighbor said nothing. She could tell the commotion this time was much louder than usual.
She watched silently for a few moments, then ducked back into her own apartment. She didn’t want to get involved in such trouble. It was already bad enough having Lee Warren as a neighbor.
The moment the door broke open, Jeanette Kensington’s eyes widened in horror.
She saw Lorraine Warren lying in a pool of blood, unconscious, surrounded by smashed and scattered furniture. Lee Warren was still hitting her while rummaging through her bag for money.
"Lee Warren!! Stop it!!"
Jeanette Kensington shrieked.
Lee Warren stopped what he was doing. He turned his head, his expression savage. His eyes darted to a fruit knife on the table, and he grabbed it.
But Jeanette Kensington, fueled by a strength she didn’t know she had, rushed him before he could make a move. She swung the fire extinguisher and slammed it into Lee Warren’s head, again and again.
She screamed, continuing the motion like a madwoman, unable to stop.
By the time she came to her senses, Lee Warren had collapsed to the ground, covered in blood. His eyes were fixed on her, wide and unblinking, as if he couldn’t rest in peace.
Jeanette Kensington dropped the fire extinguisher. She slumped to the floor, powerless, clutching her head and screaming.
Lorraine Warren struggled to her feet. She walked over and checked for Lee Warren’s breath, her expression dazed as she forced a twitch of her lips. "It’s over... He’s... he’s not breathing..."
